Basically a giant cookie baked in a pan with chocolate frosting and sprinkles on top. It's like a cookie and a cake at the same time.the edges get a little crispy and the middle stays soft and chewy. The frosting makes it look like an actual birthday cake. Everyone loved it.
Ingredients
- Butter
- Brown sugar
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract
- All-purpose flour
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Chocolate chips
- Chocolate frosting
- Sprinkles
Recipe
- 1.Preheat oven to 350°F and butter a 9-inch round cake pan.
- 2.Sift together 1¾ cups flour, ¾ tsp baking soda, and ½ tsp salt in a medium bowl.
- 3.Beat ½ cup softened butter until smooth. Add ¾ cup brown sugar and ¼ cup granulated sugar and beat on medium for about 2 minutes.
- 4.Add 1 egg and 2½ tsp vanilla and beat until combined, scraping the bowl as needed.
- 5.On low speed, add the flour mixture until just combined. Fold in 1½ cups chocolate chips by hand.
- 6.Press dough into an even layer in the prepared pan. Sprinkle with additional chocolate chips if desired.
- 7.Bake 20-25 minutes until lightly browned and the surface looks dry. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- 8.For the frosting: beat 6 tbsp softened butter until smooth. Add 1¼ cups sifted powdered sugar, 3 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 tbsp milk, and ½ tsp vanilla. Beat on low for 2 minutes, then medium for 2 more minutes until light and fluffy.
- 9.Remove the cooled cookie from the pan. Pipe frosting around the edge and decorate with sprinkles.
